House of Delegates
Summary

The annual meeting of the House of Delegates was held Tuesday May 17, 2005 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Shelton, CT.  Bill Krumm, General Chair, convened the meeting, welcomed attendees and guest speaker Sandi Blumit of Risk Management Services, Inc. Sandi discussed the insurance coverage provided by USA Swimming for all USA Swimming clubs and individual members.  Insurance coverage for LSC activities, club practices and competitions was discussed followed by a question and answer session. Many thanks to Sandi for sharing her wealth of knowledge with us.

Open Letter to All CT Swimming Members

 House of Delegates Meeting
Courtyard by Marriott in Shelton, CT

 Connecticut Swimming, Inc., the LSC you are a member of, is holdings it’s bi-annual House of Delegates Meeting at the Courtyard Marriott in Shelton on Tuesday, May 17th at 7:30pm.  I am writing to inform you, that as a club member or individual member, this is one of the two meetings held annually to pass on pertinent information, and conduct the business of the corporation.  Each team needs to have a representative in attendance. 

This meeting will feature a guest speaker, Sandi Blumit, from the USA Swimming Insurance Corporation (USSIC).  Sandi will layout the insurance program provided to its members.  This subject pertains to everyone and this opportunity will give you a better understanding of what your coverage is and is not.  I would wager that some of us are (at times) not properly covered, and hopefully this presentation, along with questions and answers, will avoid us from being caught unaware and open to lawsuits.  We need to be responsible in protecting our membership and be sure we are following proper membership protection guidelines. 

Additionally at this meeting, our slate of officers will be presented for election along with the approval of our annual operating budget.  Each club should have their delegate prepared to vote on these items. 

At the fall 2004 House of Delegates meeting, I looked at the attendance and I was disappointed that less the 50% of our teams were not in attendance.  I am hopeful that having this guest speaker on such an important topic would increase attendance. 

Following the meeting, we will host a social hour, and this will be a great time to meet and greet all the wonderful people associated with our organization.  I look forward to seeing you all there.

Come elect your Board Members and learn everything you ever wanted to know about USA Swimming's insurance coverage. Our guest speaker is, Sandi Blumit, Senior Vice President of Risk Management Services, Inc. She discuss USA Swimming's insurance coverage and will be available to answer questions. A reception will follow the meeting with light snacks and beverages.
