2006 SC Senior Championship

The 2005-2006 Connecticut short course championship season concluded with the exciting and fast-paced Senior Open Championship held March 16-19th at Wesleyan University.  Approximately five hundred athletes, representing 38 teams came with hopes of personal bests and team high-point. 

In the Fast Lane

Kristen Frost (SNCO) achieved a USA Swimming National qualifying time in the 1650Y Freestyle with a 16:39.15 and Junior Championship qualifying times in the 1650Y Freestyle and 400Y IM.  Elizabeth Pelton (WYW) broke six CSI records in the 11/12 Girls category: 50Y Freestyle Resident record (24.25); 100Y Freestyle Resident and CT record (52.99); 200Y Backstroke Resident and CT record (2:05.64) and 200Y IM Resident and CT record (2:10.29). Joining Kristen and Elizabeth were many Eastern Zone sectional qualifiers and athletes achieving personal bests. Congratulations to all!!

CSI extends its thanks to the Senior Committee, chaired by Jeff Allen  and Meet Director, Cheryl Lozach.  Joining Cheryl at the helm and running a flawless meet were Ed Doernberger and Jeff Gray, Meet Referees. Eileen McHale and Mary Smith provided the best-ever hospitality for coaches and officials and Barb Prue, with assistance from LeAnn Abbott, kept the computer table in excellent working order.  Also, sincere thanks to the many parent volunteers who contributed their time to make this meet a success for our athletes.
