New Business

Motion to drop bonus events from the LC Senior Open Championships and to run the 400 IM and Freestyle from fastest to slowest in preliminary sessions was made. Motion passed.

Future Planning: Program Development committee would like to use the February meeting to brainstorm and plan future programs. The following was discussed:

An active Technical Planning committee is vital

Coach Survey to determine if the short course meet schedule met clubs' needs.

Coach Clinic is needed. Jason Paige and Christine Pelham

Number of short course meets: Technical Planning should work with Program Operations to put together a survey to distribute at Age Group Championship.

Contact Sandi Blumit to speak to the House of Delegates regarding insurance

Contact Leeanne Spletzer to host long range planning sessions in her home

CIAC- ask USA Swimming (Pat Hogan) for advice. Steve Carroll and Ellen Johnston are working on CIAC policy and how if affects CSI athletes.

Committee Reports

Senior Committee: Effort will be made to educate coaches at the senior championships on award procedures. Senior Distance Training Camp, featuring a national athlete, will be held April 30th at Wesleyan University. Eligible athletes will need a sectional cut or faster. Target of 50 kids. Coach selection is undecided but most likely will be based on number of national kids and down. Proposed Senior Travel is attached. Ira Klein, USA Swimming, proposed northeast Senior Circuit. Committee likes the theory, but needs more discussion. Like to add a "college swimming" section to the website. May get a speaker to address questions such as NCAA compliance.

Age Group: Two meeting have been held since last Program Development meeting. Relay-only swimmers at championship meets have been discussed because they create warm-up imbalances. 18/U championship relays have been changed to 13/18 relays. 18/U relays created unsafe warm-ups. There was not enough support for 15/18 relays. LC Open Water event at zones was discussed. The announcement will be posted but will not be attended formally by the zone team. Tentative plans are underway for 1-2 camps after Regional Championships. One adapted athlete has applied for the zone team. The Zone Team coaching staff has been selected (Brooks Ensor, Head Coach, Ann Hughes, Kevin Quill, Rachel Zappalorti and Dan Zeek). Unable to find a parent volunteer to take zone coordinator leadership role. Kaeley Steinnagel will organize and lead a group of parent volunteers.

Technical Planning: No report.

Meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM
Submitted by Nan Cooper

Next Meeting: Tuesday, June 14 – 7:30pm – Orange
