Chair Bill Krumm called the meeting to order at 7:35pm at the High Plains Community Center, Orange.

Present: Jeff Allen, Peter Boucher, Clark Cooper, Ellen Johnston, Bill Krumm, Dave Reilly, Barry Silver and Meg Whitaker.

Absent: Steve Carroll, Nick Cavataro, Brian Gordon, Haley Ottenbreit, and Jason Paige.

Also Present: Ken Block, Nan Cooper and Bill Repass

Approval of Agenda: Approved as amended.

Approval of Minutes: January 13, 2004 minutes were approved.

Old Business

LC Championship meet configuration: Barry Silver moved, on behalf of the Age Group Committee, to hold Fri-Sun preliminary sessions at two different locations (same time schedule) and all other sessions at Wesleyan. Seconded. Discussion. Age Group Committee has 2 objectives: run a consolation heat at finals and have a manageable finals timeline. Technical Planning (TP) reported to Age Group Committee (2-2-04) that they did not support 2 venues because of concerns over coach coverage and weather risk. Motion amended by adding that 400 free, 400 IM and 11/12 200 odd-stroke events will swim championship finals only and score top 16. Amendment seconded and approved. Main motion approved 6-1. Barry Silver abstained.

New Business

Adapted Policy: Ken Block presented revisions to the Adapted Swimming Policy based on recommendations from USA Swimming Adapted workshop. Reference to classification was revised. Swimmers will now self- classify. A description of each classification will be added to the policy. Time standards for Regional Championships will be 117% of A time standards. Approved.

Committee Reports

Senior Committee: Jeff Allen announced possible dates for Senior elite training sessions. May 2, 23; June 6, 27; October 3, 24. Each session would be approximately 3 hours (9AM-12PM). Coaches would rotate. Senior Committee defined "All Connecticut A Team" as top 3 and "All Connecticut B Team" as 4-6. Further work is needed on criteria for selection. The committee is seeking a Meet Director for LC Seniors.

Age Group: Barry Silver reported: Zones- Brooks Ensor was selected as head zone coach along with Gary Harrigan, Christine Pelham, Kaeley Steinnagel and Dan Zeek. Sue Lecza is planning a May 1st 11/12 camp and a future 13/16 distance camp.

Technical Planning: Dave Reilly reported that TP met specifically to discuss LC Age Group Championships 2-location proposal and were in favor of one location.

 

Bill Krumm announced that he was not available for the May 11th meeting. Ellen Johnston will substitute as chair.
