2004-2005 Time Standards: Proposed time standards were not available. Bill Krumm forwarded a request from George Miles. George is asking the committee to consider going against general policy and loosen the time standards for 11/12 events where there are fewer than 24swims in the sc age group championship results. He recommends 0.5 seconds for 50 events, 1.0 seconds for 100 events, 1.5 seconds for 200 events and 2.0 seconds for 500 events. George also recommended going to one set of time standards for 2004-2005. The committee members were in agreement with the recommendations.

LC Championship Meet Announcements: Barry Silver moved to accept the 2004 LC Age Group Championship meet announcement (hand out). Seconded and approved. Jeff Allen moved to accept the 2004 LC Senior Open Championship with the addition of procedure for unattached athletes attending the meet without a coach. Seconded and approved.

Zone Policy Revision: Barry Silver moved to adopt the following change to the zone team policy. Seconded and approved.

III. Selection of Coaches

A. Selection will be made by the Age Group Committee at least one month
prior to each zone meet.  The selection process will take into account, if
possible: having a mixture of experienced zone coaches and coaches new to
zones, coaches from different teams, from different parts of the state, a
mixture of male and female coaches.
E. Up to 5 coaches will be selected for Short Course, up to 6 coaches will
be selected for Long Course.  The amount selected will be decided by the
Age Group Committee based on projected number of swimmers and the venue.

Committee Reports

Senior Committee: Jeff Allen reported that CT Senior Elite team criteria is nearly finished. A team will be top 3 and B Team 4-6. Speedo is donating recognition caps. LC training sessions for elite athletes did not come together for the LC season.

Age Group: Barry Silver reported: Zones- successful zone trip. Coordinators, coaches and chaperones worked well together and athletes performed well. Continuity of zone coordinator is a plus. Camps- an 11/12 camp was held May 1st. Very successful and fully subscribed. The decision was made to better define camp so that the ability levels of the athletes are better matched. Adapted Swimming- this program is growing in number. Barry thanked Ken Block for his current work and Clark Cooper for getting the program started. CSI has two paralympians attending the Paralympic Games in Greece. Adapted athletes have not impacted meet timelines. Zone Task Force- still working on recommendations. LC Zones- Coach selection will be handled slightly differently. The Age Group Committee will select a head coach first and then that coach will work with the committee to select the rest of the zone coaching staff.

Technical Planning: No report.

Bill Krumm asked the committee to review the long term agenda.

Meeting adjourned at 8:50 PM

Next Meeting: Tuesday, June 8 – 7:30pm – Orange
