Welcome to the updated Coach’s Page!  Your Coaches Representatives are here for you.  We will be trying to use this page to help communicate some of the current issues within CT Swimming.  Please let one of us know if you have any questions or would like your voice to be heard.   

1. We are starting with the proposal for changes to the format of the 2011 Age Group Championship.  Please review the documents and contact one of the Representatives, the Coach-At-Large, the Chairs of Technical Planning and/or Age Group Committee with any feedback. Click here to email your feedback.

This proposal will be discussed in the coming year within the committee structure (Coaches, Technical Planning, Age Group, and eventually Program Development).  These are open meetings.  The dates, times, locations and agendas will be posted here.

2. Coach Travel Assistance is available for the 2010 USA Swimming national meets.

3. Coaches Educational Incentive Program: The Coaches Educational Incentive Program provides educational grants for Connecticut Swimming coaches who participate in CSI activities and events.   Four grants to a maximum of $500 each, ($2000 in total), will be provided each year to eligible CSI registered coaches.  Coaches will be selected to receive CSI Educational Grants based upon a pre-established Point System and other established criteria.  At the end of each fiscal year, eligible coaches will be required to complete and forward to Connecticut Swimming an Application for an Educational GrantCoaches will provide on this application a complete listing of all activities and events in which he/she participated in the fiscal year September 1, 2009 to August 31, 2010.  Applications are due Friday September 25, 2010.


Attention Coaches: The Coaches Representatives for CT Swimming are now soliciting nominations for Age Group and Senior Coach of the Year.  Balloting will be conducted during the respective championship meets.  Please email Dan Mascolo and John Spadafina with your nominations. Nominations will close on the following dates: Senior Coach of the Year : Wednesday, July 21st; Age Group Coach of the Year: Wednesday, July 28th.


USA Swimming's safety notice to all clubs and coaches with regard to racing starts. Per USA Swimming, all clubs and coaches must complete a Racing Start Certification for every swimmer. Effective date: May 1, 2009.


Safety Training for Swim Coaches Options

            Two options (select one):

1.       Complete and pass the American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches class

OR

2.      Complete and pass a USA Swimming accepted Life Guard class (refer to attached list) AND take and pass the online American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches test.  You must then submit the email letter stating you passed the test and your current Life Guarding certification.

As of September 2, 2008, the first-year education requirement (Foundations of Coaching) will be based on a new DVD available online from USA SWimming. The book test will not longer be available. Questions? Contact Judy Snow snowjj@cox.net
