MEET CLASSIFICATION:  This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs.  

MEET FORMAT:  The meet will be swum as Prelim/Final Format. Preliminary heats will be held in individual events for 11-12, 13-18.. Preliminary heats of the 400 IM and 500 Free will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Friday’s events and all 9/10 events will be timed finals. 

SCRATCH PROCEDURES: Failure to Compete in Finals: Any swimmer qualifying for any heat of finals who fails to compete and who has not been scratched will be barred from all further competition in the meet. Exceptions for Failure to Compete in Finals: No penalty shall apply for failure to compete in finals if: 1. The Referee is notified in the event of injury of illness and accepts the proof thereof. 2. A swimmer qualifying for a final heat based on the results of preliminarily notifies the announcer within 30 minutes after the announcement of qualifiers that he may not intend to compete and confirms his final intentions within 30 minutes following his last individual preliminary event. 3. It is determined by the Referee that failure to compete is caused by circumstances beyond the control of the swimmer. 

FACILITY: The Hamden High School Pool is a 6 lane, 25 yard pool. Colorado Timing System will be used. Ample spectator seating available..

SESSION TIMES:

SESSION TIMES: Session 1:  Friday, January 16th.     Timed Finals. Warm-up 13/over: 5:00 – 5:40, 11/12: 5:40 – 6:00, Sprints 6:00 – 6:15 Start 6:15

                                 Session 2:  Saturday, January 17th. Trials / Finals = top 12 13 to 18 Warm-up 7 – 8:30,   Start 8:30

                                 Session 3:  Saturday, January 17th. Trials / Finals = top 6 11/12, 10/under timed finals. Warm-up 11:30 – 12:45, Start 12:45     

                                 Session 4:  Saturday, January 17th.  Finals. Warm-up 13 to 18  5:00 - 5:40,   11/12: 5:40 - 6:05 Sprints: 6:05 - 6:15, Start 6:15

                                 Session 5:  Sunday,   January 18th.  Trials / Finals top 12  13 to 18 Warm-up 7 – 8:30, Start 8:30

WARM-UPS: CT Swimming Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect. 

ELIGIBILITY:  All athletes must be current athlete members of USA Swimming. Age on the first day of the meet shall determine the swimmer’s age and age group for the meet. Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck. 

ADAPTED SWIMMING:  Any current athlete members of USA Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition. 

ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Swimmers may compete in 2 events on Friday and 3 events per day Saturday and Sunday / 8 total for the meet. 

ENTRY TIMES: Submit entry times in:  SCY,  No Times are discouraged. 

DEADLINES: Entry deadline is Friday, January 2nd, 2009. Mail hardcopy and payment to the entry chairperson. Rob Dietter, 151 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. The email date will determine the date an entry is received. 

ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to:  Rob Dietter at Pondsct@aol.com. Please check that your team name, address, and contact information are listed correctly in this file. Payment is expected with Hard Copy. An entry is considered "in" and accepted when we confirm the entry via email and payment is received.  

ENTRY FEES: 11/18 = $6.00/event   9/10 = $4.00/event.  No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry. Manual entries 11/18 = $7.00/event 9/10 + $5.00/event.

PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to HNHS and mail to: Rob Dietter, 151 Mill Road, North Haven, CT 06473  Payment must be received by 01/03/09. 

CUT PROTOCOL for INVITATIONALS: Swimmers may compete in 2 events on Friday and 3 events per day Saturday and Sunday / 8 total for the meet. If the meet becomes oversubscribed, first the 13 /18 400 IM and 500 free will be limited to 5 heats of men and women; next teams will be cut based by date of entry fees received. Warm-up times may need to be adjusted if deemed necessary by the meet director and with approval from Program Operations. Teams will be notified of any changes by Saturday, January 10th,  2009. 

RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemed necessaryto ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations.  Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet. 

SAFETY: 

  1. Diving will be prohibited during warm-ups except in specifically announced one-way sprint lanes.  There will be no diving in the warm-up and warm-down areas at any time
  2. No shaving is permitted at the competition site.
  3. No glass containers are permitted within the facility.
  4. Swimmers must be under the supervision of a coach.  If a swimmer arrives at the meet without a coach, the swimmer should notify the referee before he/she warms up.  The referee will assign the swimmer to a registered coach for warm-ups.
  5. No electronic devices with cameras are permitted in the locker rooms.

RULES: Current USA Swimming rules will govern all competition. 

TIME TRIALS:
No 

TIMERS, OFFICIALS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: Swimmers must provide own timers and counters for 500s. 

DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff actively participating in the meet are permitted on the pool deck.   

SCORING: The meet will not be scored. 

AWARDS: Medals 1-3 / Ribbons 4-6

From North of Hamden:

Take CT-15 S / WILBUR CROSS PKWY toward New Haven.

Take the CT-10 exit- EXIT 60- toward HAMDEN / NEW HAVEN

Turn LEFT onto DIXWELL AVE / CT-10.

High School will be on your left.
