MEET CLASSIFICATION: This meet is open to all USA Swimming athletes and clubs.
MEET FORMAT: The meet will be swum as prelim/final format.
All events will be deck seeded according to the swimmers’ best yard times. Preliminary heats of all individual events with the exception of the 400IM and 500 Free, 12 under 200 Stroke events and relays will be held in 3 categories: 11-12, 13-14, Senior. There will be two heats (Consolation and Final) for each event in traditional 11-12 and 13-14 categories and 15 and over categories. If there are any events with less than 16 swimmers swim in preliminaries, we will run an "A" final only of that event.
All 10 and under events will run as timed finals.
All heats of the 400 IM and 500 Free are open to all athletes. These events will be listed as senior events and will run slowest to fastest
RELAYS:
SCRATCH PROCEDURES: Coaches will receive a scratch sheet for each session of the meet in their information packet listing all of their swimmers and events for that session. Coaches must indicate all scratches on these sheets and turn them in to the computer table within one half hour after the beginning of warm ups even if there are no scratches.
FAILURE TO COMPETE IN FINALS: Any swimmer qualifying
for any heat of finals who fails to compete and who has not been scratched will
be barred from all further competition in the meet. There is no penalty for
failure to compete in Timed Final Events. Please be aware that this rule will be
adhered to in accordance with CT Swimming rules and procedures.
EXCEPTIONS FOR FAILURE TO COMPETE IN FINALS: No penalty
shall apply for failure to compete in finals if:
The referee is notified in the event of injury of illness and accepts the proof thereof.
A swimmer qualifying for a final heat based on the results of preliminaries notifies the announcer within 30 minutes after the announcement of qualifiers that he may not intend to compete and confirms his final intentions within 30 minutes following his last individual preliminary event.
FACILITY: Hutchinson Natatorium is an 8 lane, 25 yard pool with a Colorado Timing System. Pool depth ranges from 5ft to 13ft. There is ample deck and spectator seating.

Anyone requiring assistance is encouraged to speak to the building or event supervisor.

Sunday Finals (11 & Over)** Depending on size of meet, Sunday finals will begin
1 hour earlier. Teams will be notified by Monday February 2, 2009

WARM-UPS: CT Swimming Warm-Up Procedures will be in effect. .
ELIGIBILITY: All athletes must be current athlete members of USA Swimming. Age on the first day of the meet shall determine the swimmer’s age and age group for the meet. Any swimmer who is entered and is unregistered, will be scratched from the meet until registration is completed. All coaches must present a valid USA Swimming coach card to the Meet Director prior to the commencement of any sanctioned swim meet, and must have this card with them while on deck.
ADAPTED SWIMMING: Any current athlete members of USA Swimming with a disability as defined by USA Swimming Rules and Regulations may enter this meet. If modifications to USA Swimming rules are necessary then the coach or athlete must notify the meet referee of any disability prior to competition.
ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Trials/Finals, 3 per day maximum
ENTRY TIMES: Submit entry times in: SCY. No Times are discouraged.
DEADLINES: Entry deadline is Tuesday, January 27, 2009. Mail hardcopy and payment to the entry chairperson: Tim Quill 125 Wintergreen Ave New Haven, CT 06515. All entries must be typed or printed legibly, and must use full names and registration numbers from USA Swimming registration. Date for receipt of entry will be determined by email receipt or hard copy.
ELECTRONIC ENTRIES: Electronic entries (such as from Hy-Tek Team Manager or other team management software) that are in CL2 or SD3/SDIF format may be emailed as an attachment to the entry chair at quillt1@southernct.edu. Payment is expected by the entry deadline in order for the entry to be considered complete.
ENTRY FEES: Electronic entries: $5.00 for individual events, $6.00 for Friday’s 12 under 200 stroke events, $6.00 for the 400 IM and 500 Free and $8.00 per relay. Manual entries: $6.00 for individual events. No refunds will be given for entries that are accepted, or for entries that are rejected due to improper entry
PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS: Please make checks payable to SoNoCo Swim Club and mail to: Tim Quill, 125 Wintergreen Ave. New Haven, CT 06515. Payment must be received by Tuesday, January 27, 2009.
CUT PROTOCOL: Entries will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis. Be aware the meet may close prior to the entry deadline. Teams whose entries cannot be accepted will be notified as soon as the meet is full, but no later than Saturday, January 31, 2009. Splash fees for entries that are scratched due to limits will be returned. Depending on the size of the meet, heat limits may be required in the 500 free and 400 IM as well as 200 stroke events. Teams will be notified of any heat limitations by Saturday January 31, 2009. SONOCO Swim Club and Southern Connecticut State University reserve the right to modify and/or cancel the meet for safety or other reasons with the consent of the CT Swimming Program Operations.
RESERVE THE RIGHT TO MAKE CHANGES: The meet referee reserves the right to make any adjustments to the provisions of the meet announcement deemed necessary to ensure the fair and efficient running of the meet, with prior approval from Program Operations. Clubs will be notified of cuts no later than Monday before the meet.
SAFETY:
RULES: Current USA Swimming rules will govern all competition.
TIME TRIALS: Yes. Time trials will be offered at the discretion of the meet referee if time allows. Time trials are $6.00 for individual events
TIMERS, OFFICIALS OR WORK ASSIGNMENTS: The host team will require timers from teams in proportion to the size of their entries. Team assignments will be posted on the team website 3 days prior to the meet.
DECK ACCESS: Only athletes, coaches, officials, and official meet staff actively participating in the meet are permitted on the pool deck.
SCORING: The meet will not be scored.
